Common Questions
What is the difference between Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue?
Swedish Massage uses gentle, flowing strokes ideal for relaxation and stress relief. Deep Tissue Massage applies firmer pressure to target deeper muscle layers, making it better for chronic pain, muscle knots, and tension. Swedish is great for first-timers or those seeking relaxation, while Deep Tissue is ideal for addressing specific problem areas.
How long should my massage session be?
For first-time clients, we recommend starting with a 60-minute session. This gives your therapist enough time to address key areas while you get comfortable with the experience. For regular relaxation, 60-90 minutes works well. If you have specific issues or want comprehensive full-body work, 90+ minutes is ideal.
Can I choose the pressure level?
Absolutely! We always discuss your comfort level and preferences before starting. You can request light, medium, or firm pressure, and you're welcome to provide feedback during the session. Your therapist will adjust accordingly to ensure you're comfortable throughout.
Do I need to book an appointment in advance?
While we do accept walk-ins when available, we highly recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time slot and therapist. Our schedule can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and evenings. Call us at 715-256-8288 or use our online booking form.
What are the main benefits of massage therapy?
Regular massage therapy offers numerous benefits including: reduced muscle tension and pain, improved blood circulation, better sleep quality, decreased stress and anxiety, enhanced flexibility and range of motion, faster recovery from physical activity, and overall improved well-being.
What should I wear to my massage appointment?
You'll be provided with privacy to undress to your comfort level. Most clients undress completely or leave on underwear. You'll be properly draped with sheets throughout the session, with only the area being worked on exposed. Wear whatever is comfortable for you to arrive in.
Is massage therapy safe during pregnancy?
Prenatal massage can be beneficial for expectant mothers when performed by trained therapists. Please inform us if you're pregnant when booking, and we'll ensure appropriate techniques and positioning for your safety and comfort.
How often should I get a massage?
This depends on your goals and budget. For general wellness and stress relief, once a month is a great starting point. If you're addressing specific issues like chronic pain or recovering from an injury, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be more beneficial. Your therapist can recommend a schedule based on your needs.
How to Book Your First Massage in Eau Claire
The most common question in any massage FAQ is some version of 'what do I actually have to do?'. Here is the whole process, start to finish, for a first-time visitor to Q Healthy Spa. It takes about 2 minutes on the phone and there is no deposit, no app and no form to fill in.
- Call 715-256-8288. The line is answered during all 12.5 open hours, 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, 7 days a week.
- Say roughly when you want to come. Weekday mornings are usually open same day; the 4 PM to 7 PM window and Saturdays want 2 to 7 days of notice.
- Pick 60, 90 or 120 minutes. First-time visitors almost always want 60 minutes.
- Pick a style, or say it is your first massage and let the front desk pick. Swedish is the usual answer for a first visit.
- Mention anything medical: blood thinners, pregnancy, recent surgery, skin conditions or a fresh injury all change what is appropriate.
- Arrive 10 minutes early at 2151 Eastridge Center, Floor 1, Suite C. Parking is free and directly outside the door.
- Pay at the end by cash or card. Your first visit is $5 off, and hot stone therapy plus sauna access are included on every visit.

Booking and timing
Same-day bookings are usually fine on weekday mornings. The 4 PM to 7 PM weekday window and most of Saturday are the busiest — allow 2 to 3 days for the former and 3 to 7 for the latter. A couples booking needs two therapists free simultaneously, so give it 3 to 7 days.
Walk-ins are welcome whenever a therapist is free, but we would not recommend driving in on the chance during a busy window. Call 715-256-8288 and the front desk will tell you what is open in the next couple of hours.

During the session
You stay draped the entire time — only the area being worked on is uncovered, then re-covered before your therapist moves on. Undress to whatever level you are comfortable with; most people keep underwear on, and futon massage is done fully clothed if you would rather not undress at all.
Pressure is adjustable at any point and saying so is part of the process. 'A bit lighter' is the single most useful sentence in the room. Massage should not be something you grit through — bracing against pressure makes you tense up, which works against the whole point.

What your therapist needs to know
Where you are sore, what pressure you want, anything medical — medications especially blood thinners, pregnancy, skin conditions, recent injuries or surgery — and any area you would rather skip. That last one needs no explanation and will simply be respected.
Certified therapists work here and Wisconsin licenses massage therapists through the Department of Safety and Professional Services. It is a fair question to ask anywhere you book.
What massage will and won't do
It reliably eases muscular tension and produces the relaxation response, and NCCIH finds it may help some people with low-back, neck and some chronic pain — with effects generally small to moderate and often fading within weeks. Most guests report 2 to 10 days of noticeable easing.
It does not flush toxins, break up scar tissue, realign your spine or treat a diagnosed condition. For a fresh injury, numbness, limb weakness, radiating pain or anything sharp and new, see a medical provider first. Massage sits alongside care, not in place of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book?
Same day is often fine on weekday mornings. Allow 2 to 3 days for the 4 PM to 7 PM weekday window, and 3 to 7 days for a Saturday or for a couples booking, which needs two therapists free at once. Call 715-256-8288 and the desk will tell you what is open.
What should I wear, and do I have to undress?
Undress to whatever level you are comfortable with — most people keep underwear on. You stay draped the whole session with only the worked area uncovered. If you would rather not undress at all, book futon floor-mat massage: it is done fully clothed with no oil, so wear something loose and stretchy.
What if the pressure is wrong?
Say so — 'a bit lighter' or 'you can go firmer there' at any point. It is part of the process, not a complaint. Bracing against pressure makes you tense up, which works directly against the goal, so harder is not better and enduring it does not help.
How long do the effects last?
Most guests report 2 to 10 days of noticeable easing in muscle tension, and hours to about a day of the relaxation effect. Tissue adapts to what you do most of the time, so an hour against a week of sitting is real but temporary. Most people settle into a session every 2 to 4 weeks.
Is there anything I should tell my therapist?
Four things: where you are sore, what pressure you want, anything medical (medications especially blood thinners, pregnancy, skin conditions, recent injuries or surgery), and any area you would rather skip. That last one needs no explanation and will be respected without question.
When should I see a doctor instead of booking a massage?
For a fresh injury from the last few days, an active infection or fever, numbness or tingling, weakness in a limb, pain radiating below the knee or into the hand, unexplained weight loss, or pain that consistently wakes you at night. Massage sits alongside medical care and should never delay a diagnosis.
Do you sell packages or memberships?
No. Sessions are booked one at a time. First visits are $5 off, and complimentary hot stone therapy and sauna access come with every session regardless. There is no membership to sign and no package pressure at the desk.
